The Australian government talks about family values, yet it continues to make it difficult for parents of migrants to stay with their families. Parent visas are either too expensive, have endless wait times, or come with strict conditions that force elderly parents to leave just when their children need them the most.

Many skilled migrants who contribute to Australia’s economy find themselves trapped in an emotional struggle, unable to have their parents by their side due to restrictive visa policies. Why should families be forced to choose between their career in Australia and caring for their aging parents?

The government must introduce fair, affordable, and reasonable parent visa options, allowing families to stay together without unnecessary stress and financial burden. Families are the backbone of a strong society—it’s time policy reflected that.
